PAHANG
The
largest State in Peninsular Malaysia is located on the east coast covers
a land area of about 35,960 sq km and has a population of approx 1.3 million.
Pahang
is rich in agricultural and natural resources. In line with national objectives,
Pahang believes the key to success lies in strengthening and
broadening the State's economic base giving due emphasis to the three (3)
core sectors i.e manufacturing, tourism and agriculture.
The
manufacturing sector is to spearhead the growth of Pahang's economy towards
realising the developed status. This would be realised through the three
Industrial Development Corridors i.e
a.
The Eastern Corridor- Gebeng I.E, Ktn Port I.E, Semambu I.E, Peramu I.E
b.
The East-West Corridor - Bentong I.E, Songsang I.E, Temerloh Industrial
Park
c.
The Central North-South Corridor - Jerantut I.E, Lipis I.E Raub I.E
DEVELOPMENT
OBJECTIVES

To promote
Pahang as a major attraction for investment in Malaysia

To widen
Pahang's industrial base, and diversification of the industrial activities

To support
the creation of BCIC (Bumiputra Commercial & Industrial Community)

To increase
contribution of the manufacturing sector to the State GDP
DEVELOPMENT
STRATEGIES
-
Broadening
the
industrial base by encouraging the growth of major industries and providing
support facilities to complement the comparative advantages;

Developing
industrial estates under the National Development Corridor emphasising
on Cluster Development Approach;
-
Upgrading
infrastructural services to support growth of industries; and Intensifying
investment promotion and directing it towards target groups of the major
industries and stepping up regional cooperation.
